I couldn't agree more. The best chance of healing is right in the beginning. As time goes on, it gets harder to heal. Too many dogs end up needing an amputation because the window of opportunity for healing was missed.

I would definitely ask for a second opinion from an orthopedic vet. Often the xrays can be sent to them for review and you won't even have to bring her in. He will be able to tell if she needs some sort of fixation, i.e, pins, etc. to give her leg the best chance of healing.
