if you take her outside to potty put two bags over the splint so that it doesn't get wet. if there is ANY moisture in the splint there is a great chance she will develop an infection so it needs to be changed right away. i've seen it happen many many times. if it constantly gets wet and stays wet and infected, then yes she may lose some things but that's not typical.
