If your vet thinks he is malnourished, I wonder if you have been giving him too much Karo Syrup? At five months old, his blood sugar should be pretty stable. Karo, Nutrical, etc. raise the blood sugar quickly when it drops too low, but can kill the appetite so it shouldn't be over used. Think of it as eating a candy bar every couple of hours. You wouldn't have much appetite for healthy meals, would you?

The problem with Karo is that while it raises the blood sugar temporarily, they will just crash again unless they get a good meal of protein and carbohydrates. It creates a vicious cycle of blood sugar highs and lows.

His bloodwork was normal?
