That's exactly what I was thinking. Dogs are extremely sensitive to body language and state of mind. I'm not saying that's the only reason he's acting up, but I'm sure your stress is also contributing to the problem.
PLZ PLZ PLZ take him to a rescue group if you decide to give him up. NOT the pound.
