We ground it up until about 6 + weeks, we slowly added the unground kibble to the ground up kibble. We always watch the puppies when we make any changes and we havent had any puppies choke but the puppy kibble (Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul) is pretty small.
Bella Mia did great by herself in the kitchen with baby gates once we put the babylocks on the cupboards.
