Hi Amber, first of all congratulations on the safe whelping of your little boy.
My Scarlett had four beautiful little girls last month. The first pup came on a Wednesday night about 11:30. The second pup was born at 1:30 am on Thursday. We both went to sleep and when I woke up at 7:30 on Thursday morning, nothing was going on. I called my vet and she suggested that I get Scarlett up and walk her to try to get things going again naturally. After about an hour of walking things started happening again, and the third pup was born at 11:30 followed by the fourth shortly after l:00 pm.
Basically 10 hours passed between the second and third pups. Because she was not in active labor during that time, Dr. Amy was not concerned at all. Our rule of thumb is always. To be on the safe side, I would recommend that you alert your vet so that they will be ready in case you need them. |
