Okay using Friday's entries as an example:
Friday, August 21, 2009, Yorkie specialty 1
28 YORKSH TERR 12-14- 2-0
28 is the total number on yorkies entered
12 is the number of male yorkies entered
14 is the number of female yorkies entered
2 is the number of male specials (champions) entered
0 is the number of female specials entered
For the shows that have a sweepstakes. A sweepstakes is a competition just for puppies that are 6 months to 12 months old.
The male yorkies are show first and they are divided into different classes. The winner of each class goes back in the ring after all male classes are judged and the 'winners dog' is selected. The winners dog is the only male that gets points that day toward their championship and that is based on how may other male dogs he beats. After the winners dog is selected then the judge will select the reserve winners dog. If for some reason the winners dog is later disqualified then the reserve winners dog will get the points.
Then all the females entries are judged and a 'winners bitch' is chosen following the same guidelines as how the males were judged.
After winners dog and winners bitch are chosen then they go back in the ring along with any specials (champions) that are entered and the judge will select Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex.
