Hurt puppy--pulled muscle? I apologize for this being my first post here, but I usually just lurk and have seen that you all give excellent advice. I have a 4 month old pup who is 3 pounds. Yesterday, She was out playing with some other pups, and I took my eyes off of her for about a second, and next thing I knew she was screaming and crying. I checked her entire body and there were was no blood or bite marks or anything and i'm not really sure what had happened, but I assumed she got stepped on or kicked? Anyways, after about 10 minutes she settled down, but was still crying every so often. I very nearly took her to the ER vet, but since her eyes looked clear, and she was eating and drinking, I didn't take her and decided to wait and see how she was today. She def seems much better, and is walking around without a limp, eating, drinking, and even running around playing a little bit. (Tough to keep a 4 month old quiet!) But every once in a while when I run my hands across her body to find out what's hurting her, and sometimes when I touch one of her legs, she'll cry out. But then if I touch the same spot, she will be fine. Sometimes another part of her body will hurt. Sometimes if she's just laying on her side sleeping she'll cry out. I'm assuming nothing is wrong with her legs, as she jumped off of something earlier and didn't even flinch.
The pain just seems to come at completely random times? It doesn't SEEM to be an emergency and if she isn't significantly better tommorow, I'll take her to the vet. But do any of you have any possible idea of what could cause such seemingly random pain? I'm thinking pulled muscle--Is that way off base? |
