I tend to believe that an animal who is not intended for breeding should be neutered or spayed.
As for if neutering your Silky will deter him from future aggressive behavior...I doubt that is the solution however, it may alleviate some of his fuel that is propelling him into acting out.
Ensuring him a secured area & proper training with strangers is key!
