We use the baby gate in the bathroom also...but we also added a piece of cardboard about 12" + tall and a little wider that the gate and hook the longer edges of the cardboard between the door jams and gate, tighten it down. Looks messy, but good enough for when we're gone. She doesn't try to get out, but it does keep the cat (who hates her and lives for trying to claw her eyes out) out of the bathroom and away from her when we can't be there to supervise. She certainly couldn't scale it if she did try to get out.
