I would also watch him very closly for vomiting or diahreah! Could you tell by looking at the toy if there was actually any wood missing from it??? Like the last poster said, it could also be a dislocated jaw
If you see any other signs of distress I would take him to the emergency vet and wouldn't wait. Poor little fellow...and you too! Keep us posted!!!
