It sounds to me like he dislocated his jaw. That would make it either too painful or impossible to chew and would also affect the way his tongue works. It would also hurt him to lay his head down. He definetly needs to go back to the vet....and I wouldn't think you should have to pay since he missed it the first time. Was the toy a little too big for his mouth where as he would have to open his jaws very wide? Was it a real toy......or maybe something that was treated with a chemical and wasn't meant to be a toy?
