Another update: Just heard back from the surgeon and Lucky's surgery is done and she is just now waking up from the anesthesia. good news, surgery went well, not so good news we still have no idea what this lump is. He said he was able to get all of it out though eventhough it went pretty deep basically into its ligaments and tendons, but he was able to save them all so it all should heal nicely. She will likely have to stay at the hospital over night though since the surgery was deeper and will prob. cause her more discomfort than was anticipated.
The only thing that worries me though is that he says normally if he was dealing with a tumor he would've liked to take some more of the normal tissue out just in case some cells had been deposited there, but in this case he couldnt cause it would have affected the structure of the paw. Plus we still dont know what we are dealing with so it could be unecessary. Anyone have any experience with a situation like this??
The original citology showed no evidence of infection or cancer, or anything malignant so that makes me feel more at ease, but still kind of worried.. any thoughts? |
