I show BOTH venues. I started out in UKC simply because at the time I knew absolutely nothing about showing or handling a dog in the show ring. Scared to death of those stern looking AKC judges at the time. UKC is more family oriented and there are no professional handlers allowed. it's you and your dog and the standards for the dog are exactly the same as AKC. I have only been showing a couple of years . I wouldn't say it is easier to title the dog UKC still you still have to meet the standards and believe me, UKC has tightened up in the last few years but they still retain the friendly, family atmosphere and that is really good for beginners. Most of the people I know that show, do show in both UKC and AKC and while it years past it might have been easier to title your dog in UKC, that is a reputation UKC is trying hard to live down.
