Honestly, I think it all depends on the dog. Some are probably totally ready to be put in
their new homes at 8 weeks but I do think they learn a lot in that 8-12 week period, so
I think I'd prefer to keep puppies until 12 weeks if I were a breeder. I got Jackson at 9
weeks though with absolutely no problems, he was a larger pup, almost 4 pounds at 9 weeks
so all went well, he never had any biting issues- which seems to be the main issue in
pups that leave before 12 weeks, they don't learn the bite inhibition that their mamas
teach them.
