Wow! Your new puppy should almost be joining your family! Cool! Thanks for all of the feedback. You have been very helpful. You mentioned that you will use the crate (and did). I am assuming that that means all night and all day. Do you guys work out of the house all day or are you able to get home to let them out? I mentioned that I am going to begin to crate her at night (in a pen right now) and still give her the pen during the day. I don't think that she can hold it all day (as little as she is). I don' t think it would be healthy. She does use her pad in her pen. She has been pretty good about going in ther and using it. I have been getting her to go on command. Although, tonight, she did a strange one. She went on her pad when I asked her to but then she was running around and pooped behind a chair. I wasn't happy. I had a hard time getting over it so I did not catch it in time. I did tell her no and put her back on her pad though.
Well, time for sleep now. I am going towake her and put her into a crate. SHe will not behappy. She has been going on her pads in the pen at night but I know that the crate will help to have her learn to get better control of her bladder. Do you agree? - kath

We have a two-story, and the pad is on the main level by the bathroom there. We have a little alcove, the bar, with a counter top and a small refrigerator undert he counter and his pad is by the refrigerator. He will do that scratchy thing after he goes potty and that means "hey I just went, and now I want a good boy treat". Has us traied well ((smile)) But it works, so why stop a good thing.
Works when we go visiting to. I show him where I put the pad and he returns to do the job.
We he was a puppy I kept him in a small area while he was out of the crate and he had to earn more space by being good with the potty thing. He now has the run of the house when we go out. Once in a while we have an accident, but the most part he is good.
He will go through 1 pad a week. He uses the outside when he is out, but I do not say anything. When I was training him to use the pad he wuold scratch at the door to go in!
The breeder is confident of the two getting along. It will be a love/hate relationship at first. She is the same gal we got Rocky from. The puppy will be 1.5 lbs when we get him. He will be in the crate until he earns the space as well.
Now if I could get Rocky to stop barking all the time it would be fine. But he is doing his job!
I still looking for mu bulk #, I re-filed and now I cannot remember where I put it. ((smile))
