Sold is also not the end of the story. A reputable breeder will also take back any dog or pup they have sold for any reason. If returned in a short amount of time and pup or dog is ok, return is because it just is not working out, a good part of the purchase price should be refunded.
And any dog or pup sold should be returned to the breeder no matter of the reason. Yes even if the dog is now 14 years old and the owner died suddenly from a heart attack.
My contract requires the dog must come back to me if the purchaser cannot keep it for any reason. There is no refund of course, if we are talking about a long time after the purchase but anyone buying a dog from me is very relieved to know my policies and hope they will be able to get a dog or puppy from me because of my policies. Those are the kind of new pet owners I look for, the ones that like my rather stringent criteria before I will sell them a dog or puppy.
