Breeding responsibily and current economy Having just read some posts on the Yorkies for sale forum etc, I think it might be a good time to bring up the issue of a part of breeding responsibly.
A responsible breeder will look at many aspects in producing a litter; many points are discussed in various areas of this forum.
Another aspect to consider BEFORE that litter is produced is that those puppies you will be wanting to sell, may or may not readily find a new home.
Therefore, as the breeder that brought about briinging these lives into the world it is up to you to realize these pups may end up being with you much longer than you planned until you find just the right home. You may end up with some or all until well past six months even over a year old due to lack of enquiries or good homes. Hold out for the right home, please.
Selling cheap or not, to the wrong homes is not a good idea. That pup or dog is defenseless if you do that it is now at the mercy of whomever now owns it.
Selling on open papers to try to get a home is not a good plan.
Breeding for money is not a good reason to breed. Poor choices will end up putting your puppies at risk, please don't do that.
Think twice before you do the next breeding as to your purpose for breeding. |
