I don't know when they outgrow it. It seems that most adult dogs will also chew destructively when they are bored.
Yes, leave lots of chew toys around. Kongs are great for stuffing; if you freeze them, they last even longer. Rawhide, squeaky toys... I leave lots of toys when I can't be there.
Someone on the list (bless them!) suggested clear deoderant on things that you don't want the dog to chew. Works great for us! |
