I talk to Samantha all the time and always apologize when appropriate.
In fact, I no longer wear shoes in the house because when she was a pup I kept stepping on her. I don't like to wear shoes in the house anyway, being a Southern country girl, but in Cairo the floors are always dirty. People who don't know us come to my house and take off their shoes because I am in socks or barefoot. Then I have to tell them to pick up the shoes before Samantha gets them!
