Default HELP - Pooping in the house

My little guy is going to be 6 months old on the 10th. We have had him since 7/5/09. We are taking him out every 2 hours during the day and he is peeing outside - no accidents. Pooping is another story. He poops 3 times per day. He does not give us any signs that he has to poop. I am keeping a log so I can try to get his pattern. 45 minutes after he eats I take him out and we just walk around - NOTHING HAPPENS. I'm not sure he can tell he has to go until it is to late and he usually poops on the rug. If I happen to be outside with him he will poop outside. PLEASE - does anyone have any potty training suggestions. He is 3.5lbs am I expecting to much from him. Also, eventhough he is doing very well with his peeing outside, he does not tell us he has to go outside. If I see him stop playing and start sniffing around, I take him out. But I always take him out every two - 2 1/2 hours either way. Sometimes he pees outside and then comes inside and poops!!! HELP. any suggestions? Thanks, Elle
