yeah i just learned this when my girl had colitis and i went to internal medicine specialist and we discussed options in detail. I ended up using probiotics rather than antibiotic as i prefer natural but she went over tylan (tylosin) vs metronidazole (flagyl) and explained the difference. Tylosin is very bitter tasting so you have to hide it in a treat. It is what is in angel eyes for tear staining so many use this in maltese breed to keep tear staining down. I personally do not like it for cosmetic reasons for this very reason when you need it for a health reason you do not want them to be immune to it.
My friend's dog was really sick - diarhea all the time and she has her on this and her dog is doing great and has been able to ween back to only a couple times a week. It helps with large intestinal issues which is what is going on with yours. Small intestinal issues is more vomitting than diarrhea
