Okay all,
Toby is 14 weeks old, I was training him to go outside, and he was doing really good, but it has gotten really cold really fast here, and I have been slacking on taking him outside like I know I should at his age. We have a puppy pad down for him, he uses this 98% of the time if I don't take him out in time, so I am happy about that. We were planning on building him a gate of outside so we can eventually just let him out when he has to go. He gives us no warning when he has to go, but we make him scratch his paws on the door and say outside before we take him out so he will learn that is what he needs to do for us to let him out. The reason why I don't want to take him out is because all he wants to do is play-with/eat the leaves, sticks, mulch, berries, and bugs and I have to change every time I take him out, because I get all comfy and stuff when I am at home. (I know I am selfish.

) I do tell him go potty, and I believe that he is beginning to understand this. I feel really bad, I know I should be taking him out, but it would be really nice to have him trained to do both until he learns to let me know if he has to go out. But will he ever learn to go outside if I keep a puppy pad down for him, or am I just really confusing him?
