The dogs' #s are:
AHS#17621 - "Shayna" - 5 yr-old Yorkie
AHS#17622 - "Shantelle" - 14 yr-old Maltese with cataracts
Because of the special circumstances, the Humane Society was going to contact the owners to get the release for adoption. Once they get it, they would like to place them together, although they have had interest already from several people in adopting the Yorkie.
I am concerned about the older being adopted. God bless anyone who will take them both.
Those two survived together and have to stay together FOREVER. The oldest one may not be completely blind -- although, with cataracts, she will become blind. Because of this, she must be adopted out with her companion. She is probably accustomed to follow the other one and the other one is used to being her guide. It will be stressful enough for the bad-sighted little girl to find herself in new surroundings -- she needs the confidence and the eyes of Shayna to help her learn how to move in her new setting. The fact that Shantelle is 14 emphasizes that it would be cruel to separate the two at this advanced age. Who knows: maybe Shayna has an invisible disability as well and need the comfort of Shantelle next to her.
This is a sad story -- the ending should be exceptionally happy.
