I trust my groomer , and he only charges $20.00. I'll take Suzi in for a bath and her nails, ears done for that price. The only time it was expensive was when I had been in the Hospital and got behind on Suzi's grooming for several months . She was matted by then, and it cost me $60.00 . That was the highest .
Now that we have a shih tzu, anther high maintence pup , however her coat is very different then a Yorkie's. She is more like a every soft down comforter so far it has not matted at all. However, she's only 12 weeks . And around her eyes the hair is long, and just like the yorkie breed the hair inside the ears grows all the way inside . She will require extensive grooming too.
Using a slicker brush and conditining spray in between professional grooming appointments has helped keep the matting out of the hair, and saved me so much money . I know Suzi feels a lot better too
