I too am trying to train a 12-wk old yorkie puppy. He does fine at night (5-hrs in his crate). Daytime we are outside every hour or 2. He goes and gets a treat (I hold out some of the dry food to use as treats)--but then comes in and uses the carpet once or twice a day. I hate keeping him crated most of the time..so while weather is nice we spend a lot of time outside. I don't know who is training whom--also I use the enzyme cleaner on the carpet--he does move to a different area each time! He has the crate thing down, but sure does his own thing when he feels like it. Also, he seems to have soft, slimy bms. He is on dry Purina Puppy Chow only - don't know what else to try--have reduced it to 3/4 cup per day (in 3 meals) from 1 c. he weighs in at 5.4lbs at 12 weeks. Is a large puppy - but is still hungry. Would eat more if we would permit it - but are trying to watch weight. Healthy as a horse the vet said. Any suggestions as to firming up the BMs and maybe not so often? Pattyo
