I doubt its worms, he doesnt seem to have any issue popping or scratching him self. How would you know if he had that anyways?
I do let him free feed. I mentioned that in my first post, but its ok i might have said it differently.
Does anyone know what kinds of fruits he can eat? I would like to get him on a good diet.
Also when is a good time to start taking him outside to use the restroom? What about flee's? What can i do to prevent them? |
Wow he had his first vaccine way way too early. Unfortunately it was a total waste. Vaccines given before 8 weeks have no effect on them. He will still need to get 3 more boosters (v-k9 DH2PP is distemper combo). the Pyrantel pamoate is a dewormer. since he only had one i'd still bring a poop sample to get tested. all puppies usually have worms and its no big deal. A puppy with a big round hard belly is a sign of worms. Diarrhea and/or frequent loose stools can also be a sign of worms. Or you can just plain see them in the poop.
As far as taking him outside, i'd wait until he gets his next distemper vaccine and then only take him outside in your backyard to potty if you are trying to train him to go outside. Do not take him for walks yet or bring him around other dogs (unless they are friends or family dogs who you know are up to date on all vaccines). You puppy is very young and suseptible to diseases.
Also since he's so young i wouldn't put flea medication on him yet. wait a few more weeks. Since he's not going outside he shouldn't get fleas but if you notice them you can bath him. A lot of people here use Minksheen shampoo ( i used to too) and it does work to keep fleas off them. its not a chemical flea shampoo but has natural bug repellents in it.
