Good morning. Just to note, one of the doctors said that a study was done on long term use of Metronidazole on cats. The results were not favorable. Somehow the intestinal DNA was altered but when the medication was stopped, all returned to normal.
The study was done for cats not dogs. However, apparently there is no real scientific evidence that long term use of Metronidazole (Flagil is the same medication only a different name) in dogs is harmful. The dose will be reduced and Emma will have to be wached. I will find out for sure when I bring her home. Waiting for a phone call from Tufts.
Thank you so much for your prayes for Emma and baby Chase. The next few days are critical for Chase. I will give Emma a kiss from everyone on this forum who have been so kind and helpful since this whole process began. |
