It is common for puppies to go through stages where they get carsick. Most dogs will outgrow it. If not, there's a drug called Cerenia that you can use when you know that you'll be taking a car trip-- it stays in the system for 24 hours, so you can give it the night before a trip. I would wait on the drug until he's grown though.
