Saddest part is, I only had Moses 2 days when he did this, so for as long as I've had him, he has been in a cast. We kept him as quiet as we could for the first 3 -4 weeks, but he plays like everything now with Isabel, our other yorkie. The cast does not slow him down, so I know if he loses his leg, he will be fine. I guess I'm just trying to decide whether to take the chance he has healed enough to remove the cast and watch him carefully or go ahead and have the amputation done. The vet did say if he breaks it again, it won't complicate anything as far as amputation; he will just have to go thru the pain of a broken leg again. Well, I have 2 weeks to ponder on this. Maybe he'll heal up real quick in the next 2 weeks! hope is always there. |
I am really sorry to hear about your Baby's broken Ulna. I would just continue to Love and care for him as you have been. My Belle fractured her Calcaneous (heel) 10 days ago. She junp off the couch as she always does with no problem. She is just too quick to prevent. She landed wrong and immediately was in pain and limping. We were in Pet ER till 3 am. After x rays and casting we went home. ER vets recommeded Ortho consult for surgery to pin and repair ($3500. ) we just cant afford at the moment. Followed up with regular Vet on Monday. she agreed with surgery but did say we can remove the cast in 1 week and she can feel how the bone is healing. We will re x ray in 1 week. and evaluate again. I sure hope her and Moses heal well. I'll include your in Prayers. I feel awful that I cant opt for surgery, but we love and care for her and she won't lack that from us. Vet said she would do just fine if we had to amputate, of course I wouldn't want this but she'd if we had to do this we'd love her even more so. I'll be thinking of you and Praying for proper healing.
