I think in general when the rabies shot is administered you get a certificate, but I think in most states you have to have them licensed and to have that done you need the copy of your rabies certificate (and here distemper) to have them licensed by the state. Once a year we pay for renewals and have to update our shots. I would talk with your vet- ours does it automatically for us. Good luck.
