There are lots of special circumstances described in detail with advice to help. Here is a website that you might want to read, re-read, and bookmark: Dog Breeding and Canine Reproduction by Debbie Jensen. Dog Breeding and Whelping guide for dog breeders. You may have time to actually order her book and/or video too. But she has a LOT of information on her site. It is very important to be prepared. So many things can go wrong with these little ones and they depend on us to know what to do to help.
You might want to see if there is a breeder in your area that would be willing to give you some mentoring, maybe even witness a whelping. Ask your vet for advice. Make an appoinment for a prenatal check on your girl. Get xrays or ultrasound as the due date nears, to see how many puppies to expect, and see what other help your vet may have to offer. |
Well said. debbiejensen.com is a great website..especially when a quick cramming session is in order!
