We leave August 2nd. I am concerned about the trip as it will be 2 long days in the car. Anyone have any advice on what I can do to make this easier for Oliver? I've heard you can give a dog Gravol to calm them down and settle their stomachs on long trips - good idea, or bad? Anyone know how much I can give him if it is a good idea? I really don't want to have to pay for a vet appointment to get something but I will if I have to. I don't want him to be tortured for 2 days and then to have to turn around and do it all over again 9 days later!

He is going to LOVE being there, he loves kids, and my brother has two min. pins and I think this dog loves other dogs more than he loves me, lol. The biggest obstacle will be the sleeping arrangements, as I will be on an air mattress in the basement and Ollie is now used to sleeping with me and not in his crate... I hope he'll be as good there as he is here but I'll have his crate on hand, just in case. I'm thinking he'll be so tired by 10pm that he'll pass out anywhere and won't care that we're on the floor and he can "explore" freely lol.

Hopefully I can figure out some ways to make this an ok experience! He's going to have to get used to it, I drive or fly at least once a year and will continue to. Hopefully his little nerves can handle it!

Puppy Eaze, Puppy Be Calm, Dog Be Good and many more! You can by stuff that calms them at pet stores and Wal-Mart. It will tell you how much and how often. You have to give it to them 30 mins. before leaving. Make stops often for plenty of puppy walks and see about staying at pet friendly hotels on the way there and back.
