I am not a yorkie owner yet but soon. I do have a boxer puppy that I gave Greenies to. I gave her one and she took a long time chewing it maybe 30-40mins. Then I thought she lost in under the couch. Then a couple of nights later I gave her another one and it was gone in minutes, so once again I thought the couch ate it. I found out 2 days later that she swollowed it almost whole. She was pacing all night as her tummy was all upset and almost puked it up in my bed. Poor girl, had it in her tummy for 2 days!
I looked at the bag and here in Canada they even have a warning on the bag saying pieces may cause blockage and could be fatal. Sure scared me so no more greenies for my boxer or my yorkie when I get her. I did see on the Petsmart site that they have a Greenie non-edible chew bone I think I will buy them instead.
I also think Greenies safety has to do with supervision and your dogs chewing habits. |
