I have seen things posted in Craigs LIst where parents are looking for a yorkie puppy just because their 4 year old saw one, and wants one now

a 4 yr old? get real parents. I've also seen where little yorkies have recieved broken bones by young children carrying them around impropperly, or dropping them. It's unfair to the Yorkie to be placed in that type of environment.
Yes, I understand that not all children are going to treat a small dog in this manner. And I understand parents become very defensive in regards to their childrens behavior. However, a parent is not able to supervise a very young child all the time around a tiny yorkie. A parent says , oh I taught my child how to handle the yorkie , however a young child , does not always have the ability to comprehend at such a early age how to handle such a fraglie animal.
This is why in every Yorkie Book it states that is is better not to have a yorkie in a home where their are children under 10 years old. It may even be 12 yrs old. I do not mean to be offensive in any way to those that do have young children, this is only the reccomendations.
