I don't want to seem rude. Oh you hybrids are in high demand right now, LOL!!! If it's older asian people, they usually just take a stab and guess. Their guess is usually what they are.
It really does get on my nerves, though, especially since I've been asked that for as long as I can remember!
How do you prefer people to ask you? Would you rather them just ask what race you are or do you have a different word? (I think people don't like to say anything that even comes close to the word "racist," which is why they're hesitant to ask me my race.) If it's a friend's friend or a customer that is around my age, we usually just say "What are you?" When it's on a friend level it's not really rude even though it totally sounds rude, but we know what we mean.
ETA: By the way, are you full or half? Or a quarter ... etc.? I have gotten Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Thai, only sometimes Chinese but to get technical I am half Hong Kong cantonese and half Taiwanese! So... basically I'm chinese |
