I hope some of you, if you haven't already joined, will join YAP, (Yorkies against puppy mills). We try to inform members of legislation being passed and urge them to get involved. We also inform them of threads here at Yorkietalk and urge them to voice opinions and ideas on solutions. I don't know if this particular breeder is a miller, but selling a pregnant bitch when you don't want to pay the cost of surgery is definitely the sign of an abusive breeder. I personally wish more people would discourage people from actively seeking out tinies, because I think it encourages breeders to breed for them, and this is the sort of thing that happens. One of the things we also do is encourage people not to become enablers, don't "rescue" puppies from abusive breeders, if you want to rescue a dog, go to a legitimate rescue and give a dog a home. Only when these people can't sell their dogs, will the stop breeding.
I believe you should report this to local authorities. Some of you have talked to this women, and you can report her to the proper authorities; if enough people report her, they will check out the situation. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" as they say. As far as reports that animal authorities will euthanize her, we have people who could work with the shelter and see that that doesn't happen. The mood in this country is changing regarding animal abuse, and government officials seem more willing to listen, now that they may show up on the national news in a bad light.
