I did not state I've done anything radical. Please, we are on the same side and I never said that the folks here are the problem or a problem in any way.
I believe that we need to take a step &/or steps that other groups who facilitated concrete changes have done.
Look what they have done for Gay rights in just the last few years. What have they done to manage the changes? It has taken years of hard work, marches and finding people in power who support them and will work with them.
The Million Man walk on Washington. What were they striving for and what has it accomplished?
I look back at real change in policies throughout our government's history and see that it has taken hard work. *Racial equality? Women's rights?*
It takes more than what can be done from our homes and computers.
I am not saying those things don't count. I'm saying they don't seem to be enough to facilitate real changes.
I am not saying it will be easy. I am looking for and to people who are willing to try and fail rather than not try at all.
Again, we are on the same side here and I am not saying I have all the answers.
Open minded and honest communication would certainly be a start.
I am sure there are others who have some ideas. NO ideas are wrong and certainly a safe place to explore those ideas and see if some can stick or inspire bigger ideas can not hurt the cause. |
I agree. Nothing worthwhile is going to be easy. I don't think anyone believes we can send a few emails, letters or phone calls and boom, everything will change for the better but there must be a starting point. Why not here and now. The longer we just say "something needs to be done" and then go fix lunch, the longer it will be before a change does take place. Once a movement is started, ppl will join in. We need to be positive and supportive to those who want to instill a change.
