I think that it is mostly a boy thing,
to prevent urine sticking to Copper's hair, I use the same clippers as I do on the tips of his ears, and I shave his belly in front of his boy parts. I leave all the hair arround the edge, or skirt. this way it can still look nice and long
I also have puppy wipes that smell really good. I wipe his shaved belly and private area about once a day. He hardly ever needs a bath.
