I have too. I have never crated mine. Just too weak-willed I guess. I know it is good for them and see how so many love their crates, but I just could never listen to them cry.

I actually dual train them to pee outside when I take them and on the pads whenever they are alone or have not learned to "tell me" they need to go. My older ones will tell me when they need to go outside. First I start them on the pads and then start taking them outside as they get a little older. My littlest puppy is only 15 weeks old so he only goes on the pad. I actually just started taking him out to the grass when the other dogs are doing their business. He does go outside, but he still mostly goes on the pads. He is doing really well. The only accidents he has had in over a week were just barely missing his pee pad and using a small rug for a pad. I may have to move that rug!
