I trained all my puppies using open play pens. They are made of wood and have no top and a plastic tray on the bottom. I put a potty pad or two inside and every time the puppy wakes up, before bed, after playing for a little while I put them in and once they go I say good boy and let them out. It doesn't take long before they figure out where they need to go. Before you know it they'll be using them on their own. When their very little like Bailey it is normal for them to have accidents thats just part of having a new puppy but when they do pick him up and put him on the potty pad. I also use these pens when I have to leave them or can't watch them for whatever reason. When you use this method it comes in handy when you need them to go to the bathroom like before you take them out or in my case need a urine sample, etc. Hope this helps.
