My step-father thinks putting him in the crate is inhumane and likens it to when people just stick there pets in cages all day. So we go old school. The only time he's been in the crate is when we sit down to eat and we don't want him begging. So his crate is in the family room while we're in the kitchen.

His bedroom is our laundry room. Its about 5'x7'. His space to walk around in is about 3'x 3.5'. He did really well with the pee pad. We've had him close to 3 months now and he doesn't even go in his room anymore. At first when we were peepad training he wanted to go in front of his doggy gate, so we put the pad there. Once he got used to using it, we moved it to under the laundry sink and he went in there when he had to go.
