How often is it recommended to get your pup's nails cut? (obviously I don't wait for her nails to curl like that, but I don't really have a set time to get them cut either; I also don't cut them myself because I get scared so I get a groomer or my vet to do it) So the quick actually grows? How do you get it to recede?
The nails should be short enough so when they walk they don't touch the ground. It can cause the feet/toes to spread out I believe. Anyway, Uni's still touch a bit. I trim a tiny bit every week, and each time you trim the quick goes back a little, don't ask me how it just does. Also I've found that on weeks we go for a long walk or run around outside that the concrete kind of files her nails a bit too. Don't know if that's good or bad, but they do end up a bit shorter afterwards.
