I kept a heating pad under the whelping box set on low. The pups would always lay on the warm spot. Make sure you keep mom clean and fed well. She needs to be eating lots so that she can produce milk. Make sure her teets are nice and full but not hard red and lumpy. Just like human moms they can get clogged milk ducts and this can lead to infection and fever. I would apply a warm compress and massage the teet to help the clog run thru. You can use a washcloth with warm water. Good Luck to you and your family.. |
