My first yorkie had seizures. Turned out to be thyroid and they gave him meds and he did fine. Then, my first foster had seizures. He would have at least one a day and sometimes 2. They were horrible. I worked with our rescue vet but was also taking Harley to my vet to be sure everyone was agreeing with what was going on. Both vets did the bile acid tests and came to the same conclusion. He is epeleptic and takes phenobarbitol. I have to take him in every 6 months to be sure he isn't having side affects from the meds. Oh, and yes, I did adopt Harley. He was soooo sick when I got him and after getting him healthy, I had spoiled him rotten in the process, I just had to keep him. He very rarely has a seizure now. I can't remember the last one that he had. Thank goodness both of my experiences have been easily treated. Good luck to you in finding the root of your babies seizures. |
