I got my boys for $150 each. They came from a reputable breeder online and they arrived healthy, happy, and well adjusted. They were 4 months old at the time and I think that is the reason they were so reasonable, because for puppies they were "old". They didn't come from a puppy mill or anything like that. I have actually become friends with the breeder and she is always asking about them and their progress. If she is interested I can put her in contact with the person.
And sometimes we just have let friends/acquaintances/coworkers fall, some people never learn until they do
