We are provided with counseling whenever there's a tragedy if we need it, so that's nice. But there's also something else we have in place where if we're too scared to fly after a disaster then we can take time off without any repercussions. It's called "fear of flying", and that's how they code it in our schedule until we're ready to come back. That's usually when the counseling offer is extended. However, it's sort of an unspoken rule that we should only take advantage of that when something happens within our own airline (Northwest/Delta).
Prayer has always been a part of my pre-flight routine, and it really does put my mind at ease. And true, if it's my time, it's my time, but I'd still rather go as an old lady in my sleep.
