I couldn't see a specialist today because I went after work, all the places were closed and also the neurologist is about 1-2 hours away from where I live. I will be going Monday or Tuesday since they are closed on the weekends. I was very pleased with this vet as he seemed to care more about Roxi rather than the first vet who said nothing was wrong with her and all she needed was some rest. This vet said that in her x-ray, her back is fine, but something is clearly going on in her neck/shoulder area. She arches her back so she can relieve the pressure or pain off of her neck/shoulder area.

He referred us to a neurologist to get a more in depth analysis to see what is really wrong. There she will get MRI or CT scan and see if surgery is needed. He suggests that the problem is cervical IVDD according to the referral papers. Since this is my first time, could anyone give me an estimate about how much MRI/CT scans cost so I can have some sort of price in mind?

I will keep everyone up to date after I see the neurologist sometime this week. I am very very thankful for everyone's concern, advice, suggestions and help. I just joined YT a few days ago to see if I could get some help and didn't expect to get this much love from everyone. You guys are the best! I've included some pictures of her now as she tries to rest comfortably

Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. Roxi sends out her love as well
omg she is precious --so glad you got a good diagnosis and are going to neurologist. I recommend going to CareCredit® Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures and getting a line with them as you can do so many months same as cash and you will be prepared for costs this way. I used it with my demi's dental - had the funds but wanted to spread it out over time so not so overwhelming. I am not sure of the costs as each area is different and california is real expensive so do not want to quote you a specialist here as may be alot cheaper there. Hang in there and so glad you are going to specialist. I rely on vets for basic things but more serious things i get immediately to a specialist and it will save you money in the long run too give her hugs and kisses from the d gang

sounds more like AAI and there are some people on this thread that are very familiar and can help you through this and i think there is a yahoo group for this as well so first get a firm diagnosis and then i recommend joining a yahoo group for that specific illness for more support as well as it always helps when others have been through it to learn from them and they can help you - i know it has helped me with my dogs with health issues to know others have had similar situations. So glad you joined here as there are alot of knowledgeable people - i did not find the groups until my dog was so sick as well so i know how you feel
