I've had 3 dogs who lived long healthy lives on less than 4 star dog food. (I don't even know if good food was available then) Ginger and Bernie are on a pretty decent food, but between really severe allergies (Ginger) and Bernie's special dietary needs, I've gone with the food that they can both digest well without problems. Ratings be darned.

Boy do I agree with this, we're always looking for that "best" food, and it remains allusive. Unless your dog has special needs, allergies, or can't handle certain foods, there are many dog foods that will work just fine.
