 yorkie losing weight-HELP
My little 17 year old baby is losing weight. She has gone from 5.8 lbs six months ago to 4.6 lbs yesterday. She has been in chronic renal failure and getting sub-q fluids for 3 years now. Last year she developed congestive heart failure. She is on enalapril, vetmedin, lasix, calitriol, azodyl and baytril. She had a bout of pancreatitis about 2 weeks ago but is better now. She is eating 4 small meals a day and waking up in the middle of the night to eat. My question is what can I feed her or supplement her with to put some weight on her. Her poor little spine and hip bones are showing sooo bad. She is not in any pain that I can tell so I am going to let her live out her days at home. She has been so close to dying several times before but she pulled out of it. My vet just can't believe her-he says she is one tough little dog. |
